Miley Cyrus and Pharrell have finally released their long-awaited collaboration, “Doctor (Work It Out),” which is now available on streaming platforms as of Friday. This marks Cyrus’s first release since her single “Used to Be Young” in 2023.
The funky dance track, with Pharrell’s signature style evident throughout, showcases Cyrus as a love doctor in the lyrics. The song talks about finding and healing love problems before they escalate, emphasizing the need to work things out together.
This collaboration has been in the works for over a decade, originally planned for Cyrus’s 2013 album “Bangerz” but was ultimately not included. Pharrell first hinted at the upcoming single during a fashion show in Paris earlier this year.
Cyrus and Pharrell officially confirmed the song’s release this week, with Cyrus teasing the track with a video of her dancing in a glittery outfit and eye-catching hairstyle.
With the release of “Doctor,” it remains to be seen if this signifies a new musical direction for Cyrus, following her successful album “Endless Summer Vacation” in 2023. The album reached number three on the Billboard 200 chart, and her song “Flowers” topped the Billboard Hot 100, earning Cyrus her first two Grammy Awards in 2024.
