In a stunning turn of events, the TCU women’s basketball team has called off Wednesday’s game against Kansas State due to a lack of available players.
The 2023-2024 women’s basketball season has been nothing short of thrilling. The level of competition is on the rise and the games are getting more physical as the NCAA tournament approaches. However, with the intense competition comes a rise in injuries.
We’ve seen it happen at Texas with Rori Harmon, at Uconn with Azzi Fudd, Aubrey Griffin and several other players, and as recently as January 16 with Riley Nelson at Maryland.
Given these circumstances, it’s not entirely unexpected that the TCU women’s basketball team decided to cancel the games scheduled for Wednesday, January 17, and Saturday, January 20, in order to prioritize the health and safety of its players.
TCU’s Women’s Basketball games vs K-State and Iowa State have been cancelled due to injuries within the program and in the interest of the health and safety of our student-athletes.

As a result of the forfeited games, TCU will chalk up two losses, and Iowa State and Kansas State will each add a win in the league standings. According to NCAA policy, overall records will not be affected.
But here’s where it gets really interesting. The situation seems so severe that the program is conducting walk-on tryouts to supplement its depleted roster.
TCU women’s basketball will hold open tryouts on Thursday and Friday for full-time students interested in walking on for the remainder of the 2023-24 season.
