Deadline reports that Howard’s attorneys claim racial bias led to unfair salary reduction for his role in ‘Empire.’

Howard claims the agency didn’t fairly compensate him compared to white actors, despite being the lead star on the former FOX musical drama, alleging conflict of interest and a violation of the California Fair Employment and Housing Act.

Howard also alleges that CAA failed to advocate for him or take action against discriminatory practices.

He didn’t know about the pay difference until he researched and discovered his success on the show entitled him to a much higher salary.

Howard argued that ‘Empire’ was just as popular as NBC’s ‘The Big Bang Theory,’ surpassing the latter in viewership multiple times, yet lead star Jim Parsons earned “significantly more” than Howard, leaving him perplexed.

“They’re big companies to go to war against. But sooner or later, you’ve got to stand up, because they’re just trampling over the rights of the artists,” he concluded. Complex.

He continued by saying he couldn’t imagine this happening to a white actor with the same accolades and world recognition as him. His attorney, Carlos Moore, added, “Discovery will show that this was racism.”
