The Gaslight Anthem Breathes New Life into Billie Eilish’s ‘Ocean Eyes

Gaslight Anthem to Cover Billie Eilish Hit on New EP

Gaslight Anthem is set to release a new EP titled “History Books — Short Stories”, featuring a hard rock cover of Billie Eilish’s hit song “Ocean Eyes”. Frontman Brian Fallon was inspired to do a heavier version of the track after his daughter played it for him on the way to school. The EP, set to be released on March 22, will also include a revamped version of the band’s classic “Blue Jeans & White T-Shirts” from their 2008 EP “Señor and the Queen”. Additionally, there will be new acoustic recordings of songs from their 2023 album “History Books”.

The upcoming EP serves as a precursor to Gaslight Anthem’s summer tour, starting on July 26 in Denver and ending on September 15 at the Sea.Hear.Now festival in Asbury Park, New Jersey. The band will be supported by Joyce Manor, the Dirty Nil, and Pinkshift on select dates during their tour.

“History Books” was the band’s first album in almost a decade, following a hiatus announced in 2015 after the release of “Get Hurt” in 2014. The album featured the title track, as well as “Positive Charge” with vocals from fellow New Jersey rock legend Bruce Springsteen. The Gaslight Anthem is gearing up to make a strong comeback with their new EP and tour, bringing a fresh take on familiar songs to their fans.
