Stunning Results from Medicare Data: Ambulatory Surgical Outcomes Are Significantly Better at High-Volume Centers
The odds of hospital admission or emergency department visits within 7 days of an ambulatory surgical procedure were 21% greater in low-volume centers according to a study in JAMA Surgery. Patients with multiple comorbidities had nearly double the odds for admission or emergency care with orthopedic procedures.
