Thomas Kingston’s Memorial Service at St. James’s Palace Draws Presence of Prince William

Prince William recently participated in a gathering of 140 mourners in London to pay tribute to the late Thomas Kingston, husband of Lady Gabriella Kingston, who passed away at the age of 45 on February 25. The funeral ceremony was held at Chapel Royal, a quaint chapel located in St. James’s Palace, and was attended by various royal guests, including Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, the Duke of Kent, and Princess Alexandra, along with Thomas’ parents, Martin and Jill Kingston, and his two sisters, Joanna Connolly and Emma Murray.

As per a report from SkyNews, Kingston’s casket was transported from Kensington Palace to the Chapel Royal, where the service commenced at 11:30 am and lasted for approximately an hour. Following the service, a reception was held at St. James’s Palace, followed by a private cremation, as mentioned in a BBC article.

Following Thomas Kingston’s tragic passing, a statement jointly issued by Gabriella and the Kingston family, and released through Buckingham Palace, described him as a remarkable individual who brought joy to all those around him. Condolences from King Charles III and Queen Camilla were also conveyed by the palace. A coroner later disclosed that he succumbed to a severe head injury and was discovered with a firearm at his parents’ residence in the Cotswolds.

Thomas Kingston, who hailed from Evesham, Worcestershire, was a graduate of Bristol University and had served as a hostage negotiator in Iraq as part of the Diplomatic Missions Unit at the Foreign Office. At the time of his passing, he held a directorial position at Devonport Capital. His ties to the royal family were solidified when he tied the knot with Lady Gabriella, a second cousin of King Charles III, in a ceremony at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor in May 2019. Both Gabriella and Prince William were godchildren of King Constantine II of Greece, and Gabriella represented him at his funeral in January 2023.

Despite not being active members of the royal family, Thomas and Gabriella frequently attended events alongside the family, with their last public appearance being at Royal Ascot in June 2023. The couple, unfortunately, did not have any children together.
