TikTok Urging Creators to Share Landscape Videos

Is TikTok moving towards a new display format?

It appears that after popularizing ⁣full-screen vertical videos, TikTok is now encouraging creators to shoot ⁣horizontally instead, according to ‌recent screenshots shared by some users. Check out the ⁢example posted by ‍ Jules Terpak (and shared by Matt Navarra) here:

TikTok‍ Video View Booster

Landscape videos that are over 1 minute in ⁣length⁤ are the⁢ ones eligible to receive increased⁤ views, as ⁢mentioned by⁢ TikTok.

Any videos meeting the⁢ stated ‍requirements will be‍ boosted for 72 hours⁢ in the app, which could be a significant posting incentive⁣ for TikTok ‍creators wanting more exposure. This shift is an odd one, given that‌ vertical video is TikTok’s ‍core offering and the popularity of‍ that format has led⁣ to⁢ significant growth in video engagement across other⁢ apps.

But this ⁤is likely ‍not a ‌departure from its core format – rather, TikTok’s move to expand⁣ its content types ‌in order to attract more users and keep things interesting. Maybe this ⁢is part of a broader growth mix as ⁢TikTok prepares for new trends and opportunities. We’ll‍ update this⁣ post if/when we hear ⁢more.
