Where did Wordle come from?
Originally created by engineer Josh Wardle as a gift for his partner, Wordle rapidly spread to become an international phenomenon with fans playing around the world. Fans created alternate versions of Wordle, such as battle royale Squabble, music identification game Heardle, and variations like Dordle and Quordle. Wordle became so popular that it was purchased by the New York Times, and TikTok creators even stream themselves playing.
If today’s not your day, here’s the Wordle answer for Dec. 26.
What’s the best Wordle starting word?
Choose a starting word that resonates with you the most. If you prefer a strategic approach, consider picking a word that includes at least two different vowels, plus common consonants like S, T, R, or N to help you find the solution faster.
What happened to the Wordle archive?
The entire archive of past Wordle puzzles used to be available, but it has since been taken down at the request of the New York Times.
Is Wordle getting harder?
It might feel like Wordle is getting harder, but it’s not any more difficult than when it first began. For more of a challenge, you can turn on Wordle’s Hard Mode.
Why are there two different Wordle answers some days?
Occasionally, Wordle will accept two different answers due to changes made by the New York Times after acquiring the game. They have added an updated word list, so this should happen less frequently than before.
