The ongoing battle for AI dominance between Microsoft, AMD, Intel, and Qualcomm is heating up. Microsoft has been focused on cloud AI, while the other companies are pushing for AI to be integrated into their PC processors. Could this lead to a conflict? Surprisingly, Microsoft’s chief Windows executive thinks it won’t and believes that cloud AI and local AI can coexist.

This has significant implications as Microsoft’s licenses and subscriptions are used by millions of individuals and businesses. AMD is promoting the concept of running AI on the local PC, and Microsoft’s Windows Studio Effects and Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom also utilize on-chip AI. To address this, Microsoft’s new corporate vice president in the Windows and Devices division, Pavan Davuluri, mentioned a hybrid strategy where the cloud and local computing work together.

This was further backed by AMD’s CEO, Dr. Lisa Su, who expressed enthusiasm about the future of AI experiences on PCs. Microsoft clearly sees AI as being of utmost importance and will spare no effort in making the most of it, cutting across devices, services, and apps.
