Get ready for an action-packed UFC 300 card in April!
UFC CEO Dana White just announced that top-ranked lightweights Charles Oliveira and Arman Tsarukyan will face off on April 13 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The winner of this bout will be the number one contender to challenge the current 155-pound champion Islam Makhachev. Speaking of Makhachev, fans can expect to see him back in action this summer once he recovers from his injury and Ramadan, which lasts from March 10 to April 8 this year.
Oliveira, a former lightweight champion, was originally set to fight Makhachev in October but had to pull out due to an injury. His spot was taken by featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski, who ended up being defeated in the first round by TKO at UFC 294.
Tsarukyan, on the other hand, faced Makhachev in his UFC debut back in April 2019. While it was a short-notice fight, Tsarukyan put up a good fight against the reigning champion, ultimately losing by unanimous decision. Since then, he has been on an impressive 8-1 run in the UFC lightweight division and most recently secured a first-round knockout against veteran fighter Beneil Dariush.
While the main event for UFC 300 is yet to be announced, it is already set to include a light heavyweight match between Jiri Prochazka and Aleksandar Rakic and a featherweight bout between Aljamain Sterling and Calvin Kattar. Additionally, former Penn State wrestling star Bo Nickal will continue his MMA journey as he faces off against Cody Brundage.
