Apple is planning to add a new Capture Button to all iPhone 16 models, according to a report from The Information. This new report gives some fresh details about how the button will work, building on a possibility we’ve mentioned before.
The Capture Button will be located on the same side as the power button, closer to the bottom, allowing for index-finger operation when the phone is held horizontally. It’s designed to make taking photos and videos feel more like using a traditional camera.
The button will be mechanical but also touch-and-pressure-sensitive, similar to the latest MacBook trackpads. It will allow for zooming in and out and locking focus with a half-press, mimicking traditional camera shutter functionality.
Although the iPhone 16 models won’t look much different physically from the iPhone 15s, the Pro models of the iPhone 16 will be slightly bigger than their iPhone 15 counterparts.
The iPhone 16 will make its debut this fall and will likely be presented at an event in early September. For more iPhone 16 rumors, check out our comprehensive rumor roundup.
