The Challenge of Closing Apps on Apple Vision Pro
Closing apps on the Apple Vision Pro can be a bit confusing compared to other Apple devices. Unlike on an iPhone or a Mac, there is no clear list of running apps or an Activity Monitor available to help you manage them. It can be challenging to differentiate between apps that are fully closed and those that are just hidden.
The Close Button Function
When you click the “Close” button on the left side of the Window Bar, it may not actually fully close the app as expected. It operates more like closing the final window on a Mac, with a subtle indicator similar to a white dot beneath the app icon on a theoretical Dock. Essentially, it is akin to returning to the home screen on an iPhone.
Alternative Method: Force Quit Menu
If you need to completely close an app on your Vision Pro, you will need to utilize the Force Quit menu. Press both the Top Button and Digital Crown simultaneously and hold them for a few seconds. This action should bring up the Force Quit Applications menu displaying all running apps, some of which you may not have been aware of.
You have the option to select individual apps and then choose “Force Quit” to fully terminate the app.
