The latest match on Saturday saw Wrexham secure a narrow 1-0 victory against Notts County, propelling them into the automatic promotion places in League Two. The winning goal came in the 20th minute, courtesy of former Scotland striker Steven Fletcher, who sealed the win for the team owned by Hollywood icons Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
Currently positioned third in the league, Wrexham has a game in hand over Mansfield and Stockport, the teams above them. With a potential win in their next game, they could draw level on points with Stockport, the league leaders, but would sit in second place due to goal difference.
Fletcher, aged 36 and with stints at clubs like Burnley and Sunderland, netted his seventh goal of the season after joining Wrexham as a free agent in September.
The triumph, witnessed by a crowd of 12,532 at the STōK Cae Ras, marked a second consecutive victory for manager Phil Parkinson’s squad, following a string of three defeats that had jeopardized their promotion aspirations.
