Enhanced Functionality and Pricing Options

The SwitchBot Lock Pro is available for $119.99 (or £139.99 / €139.99) on its own or bundled with the keypad and Matter hub for $199.99 (or £239.99 / €239.99). The keypad bundle includes additional unlocking methods like fingerprint, NFC tag, and keypad entry via the Bluetooth keypad. Moreover, the Matter hub enables compatibility with various smart home platforms and remote lock control.

Retrofit Design for Convenience

Unlike traditional smart locks that replace the entire deadbolt mechanism, the SwitchBot Lock Pro operates as a retrofit lock, utilizing the existing door hardware. This allows for smart unlocking options while retaining the use of a physical key for added convenience.

Innovative Retrofit Approach

SwitchBot gained recognition with its innovative products like the SwitchBot Bot and the previous smart lock model, which incorporated robotic technology for automation. The company’s retrofit strategy sets it apart from other smart home brands focused on developing standalone smart devices.

Integration and Connectivity

To enable remote access and integration with smart home ecosystems, the SwitchBot Lock Pro operates via Bluetooth and requires connection to a SwitchBot hub for Wi-Fi connectivity. Additionally, users can integrate the lock with voice assistants like Amazon Alexa and Google Home for voice control features.

Matter Standard Compatibility

The lock can be paired with SwitchBot’s Hub Mini Matter Enabled, designed to support the Matter standard for seamless integration with platforms like Apple Home. Although not compatible with Apple’s Home Key, the lock is expected to work with the Matter-enabled SwitchBot Hub 2 and the standard Hub Mini for non-Matter users.

Redesigned Features and Improved Battery

SwitchBot has redesigned the lock, replacing the thumb turn mechanism with a more secure screw-based installation. The new quick key button allows for easy lock and unlock operations from the inside, enhancing user experience. Additionally, the lock now uses four AA batteries with a magnetic cover for easier battery replacement.

In conclusion, the SwitchBot Lock Pro offers a blend of advanced technology, convenience, and secure locking mechanisms for modern smart homes.
