Fortnite has achieved significant progress in its long-term metaverse goals with the introduction of LEGO, racing, and concert worlds. However, the game also appears to be making efforts to counteract decreasing revenue from the battle royale mode in the short term.

There’s no denying that the new sections of the game are a blast. Fans are enjoying the LEGO translations of their skins, but Epic is really focused on monetizing the racing and concert portions of the game, which has never been seen to this extent before.

In Fortnite’s Rocket Racing mode, the prices of cars are significantly higher than normal Fortnite skins. The new Diesel Bundle, which includes a single car with six swappable decals, is priced at 4,000 V-Bucks, making it the most expensive Fortnite skin to date. The “cheap” cars are 2,500 each, and even 1 car costs $23 a piece. The Festival Main Stage mode is now selling individual songs for 500 V-Bucks each, making microtransactions a heavy part of Fortnite’s offerings.

The Festival mode is also selling $9 guitar and drum kits, and it features an entirely separate battle pass for the mode, priced at a higher cost than the standard battle pass. As Fortnite continues to introduce these expensive and premium additions to the game, it’s clear that Epic is capitalizing on the opportunity to increase revenue through these new offerings.

It will be interesting to see how players respond to these new pricing strategies, especially considering the extreme costs. Epic is certainly exploring new territories in microtransactions, and their bold approach will determine the success of these new additions in Fortnite.
