Arman Tsarukyan Calls Out Islam Makhachev for Dodging Rematch: Is He Afraid of Losing

Arman Tsarukyan Believes Islam Makhachev Is Avoiding a Rematch

Arman Tsarukyan, a UFC lightweight contender, has expressed his belief that Islam Makhachev is intentionally avoiding a potential rematch with him. Tsarukyan recalls their previous encounter in April 2019, where he stepped in on short notice to face Makhachev and put on an impressive performance despite being relatively inexperienced. Despite Tsarukyan’s efforts, Makhachev emerged victorious with a unanimous decision after three rounds of action.

Fast forward to the present day, both fighters have ascended the ranks in the lightweight division, with Makhachev now holding the championship title. Tsarukyan, on the other hand, has been on a three-fight winning streak, culminating in a significant knockout victory over Beneil Dariush at UFC Austin last December.

However, Tsarukyan’s upcoming challenge at UFC 300 will be a pivotal one, as he is set to face former champion Charles Oliveira. The winner of this bout could potentially earn a shot at Makhachev’s title, adding further intrigue to the matchup.

In a recent interview with Brian Campbell on ‘Morning Kombat,’ Tsarukyan expressed his thoughts on a potential rematch with Makhachev. He suggested that Makhachev may be avoiding him due to the perceived threat he poses, opting instead to pursue a fight with Dustin Poirier for financial reasons.

As discussions surrounding a Makhachev vs. Poirier showdown emerged recently, the lightweight division remains highly competitive. In addition to Tsarukyan vs. Oliveira at UFC 300, another exciting matchup between Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway is on the card. Gaethje, in particular, has his sights set on facing Makhachev with a victory over Holloway.

The landscape of the lightweight division continues to evolve, with contenders jockeying for position and seeking opportunities to challenge for the title. Tsarukyan’s accusations of Makhachev avoiding a rematch add another layer of intrigue to the division’s narrative.
