BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin ETF Sees Record Inflows
Last updated: March 7, 2024 00:12 EST | 2 min read

BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin ETF, trading under the ticker symbol “IBIT,” experienced a historic daily inflow of $788 million on Tuesday amidst the ongoing cryptocurrency trading craze. This surge in activity comes on the heels of Bitcoin hitting a new all-time high of $69,000, boosting overall market sentiment. As of Thursday’s Asia hours, Bitcoin is now trading at $65,700.
Bloomberg Intelligence analyst Eric Balchunas highlighted the extraordinary performance of IBIT on Twitter, noting the impressive inflows despite market volatility. This influx of capital indicates a growing interest from ETF investors in Bitcoin.
BlackRock’s Market Dominance
As the world’s largest asset manager with $10 trillion in assets, BlackRock’s foray into the cryptocurrency market with a Spot Bitcoin product has sparked a new bullish trend. The introduction of IBIT has positioned BlackRock as a formidable player in the Bitcoin trading arena, eclipsing Grayscale’s Bitcoin fund.
Grayscale’s Bitcoin fund, represented by the ticker symbol GBTC, has witnessed significant outflows totaling nearly $10 billion. Despite this exodus of funds, GBTC’s asset base remains unchanged due to market forces bolstering its value. In contrast, IBIT’s rapid rise in popularity has established it as the preferred choice for Bitcoin investors.
Laurent Kssis, a crypto expert at CEC Capital, emphasized the superiority of IBIT over GBTC, attributing its success to its appeal to institutional investors. IBIT’s dominance in the ETF space is further validated by its consistent ranking among the top performers in terms of daily, weekly, and monthly inflows.
Bitcoin Price Outlook
Bitcoin’s resilience in the face of market fluctuations underscores its enduring appeal as a digital asset. Despite challenges and uncertainties, Bitcoin’s price trajectory remains optimistic, fueled by institutional interest and investor confidence in its long-term potential.
