New York Jets Open to Reunion with Corey Davis
After being released from the reserve/retired list by the New York Jets, Corey Davis may have an opportunity for a reunion with the team. According to ESPN’s Rich Cimini, the Jets are open to welcoming Davis back to compete for a roster spot. However, there are indications that Davis may be exploring other options, with a preference for a team closer to his home in Nashville, Tennessee.
Davis recently applied for reinstatement into the NFL after taking a break from football last August. Now a free agent, he has the freedom to sign with any team following his release from the Jets.
The Jets are in need of a No. 2 wide receiver this offseason, as they lack depth behind their star receiver, Garrett Wilson. Wilson has been a standout player despite the challenges of playing with inconsistent quarterbacks in his first two seasons.
During his time in New York, Davis faced various injuries but still managed to contribute with 66 receptions, 1,028 yards, and 6 touchdowns over two seasons. Adding talented skill-position players around quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who is returning from injury, is crucial for the Jets as they aim to end their 13-year playoff drought. While re-signing Davis could be a positive move for the team, there seems to be uncertainty about his interest in returning to New York.
