The Miami Dolphins will reportedly be taking the field without two of their biggest offensive stars as they battle for the AFC East.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, wide receiver Jaylen Waddle (ankle) and running back Raheem Mostert (knee/ankle) are both expected to sit out against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Although they were initially listed as questionable for the game on Friday, both players are also expected to be ready for the playoffs. The Dolphins have already secured at least a wild card in the AFC’s postseason.
Mostert and Waddle both last played on Dec. 24. Mostert, who was recently announced as a Pro Bowler, tied for the NFL lead in touchdowns from scrimmage with 21 during Week 17. Waddle, one of the league’s premier No. 2 receivers, will finish the season with 1,014 yards.
To make matters worse, the Dolphins already have several key players sidelined for the game, including pass rushers Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips, and offensive line starters Connor Williams and Isaiah Wynn, who are all on injured reserve. In addition, cornerback Xavien Howard has been ruled out for the game.
With all those absences, the Dolphins will be facing a Bills team that has won four games in a row and is vying for a division title. While the Dolphins (11-5) have secured a playoff spot, the Bills (10-6) could end up as the No. 2 seed or the No. 6 seed in the AFC depending on the outcome of Sunday’s game.

After being crushed 48-20 by the Bills earlier in the season, they will be facing off as the underdogs at BetMGM, who have the Bills as three-point favorites.
The Dolphins will be heading into the game in starkly different circumstances than a couple weeks ago. Their injuries, along with a 56-19 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, have put them in a position where they need an upset just to win a division they were previously dominating.
