The NBA smacked Warriors forward Draymond Green with an indefinite suspension for clocking Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkić across the face in the last game.
NBA executive vice president Joe Dumars spoke out about the decision, stating that they opted for an indefinite suspension to keep the focus on helping Green and allowing him to get himself right both mentally and emotionally.
Green’s Flagrant 2 foul for swinging at Nurkić stirred a lot of controversy, given his history of on-court altercations over his NBA career. Despite his intentions, the act led to a significant suspension.
Dumars addressed the decision, emphasizing that Draymond’s words held “very little” influence in the punishment. He also discussed that the decision was thoroughly discussed before being implemented.
Former teammate Andre Iguodala also played a part in the decision-making process and highlighted that the focus remains on what is best for Green and the Warriors, given the current circumstances.
