On February 12th, 20th Century Studios unveiled a sneak peek of the upcoming movie Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
Debuting during Super Bowl LVIII, the studio released a trailer for this exciting sci-fi action film.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes serves as a follow-up to War for the Planet of the Apes (2017) and stands as the fourth installment in the revamped Planet of the Apes series, starring the talented Andy Serkis as the chimpanzee leader, Caesar.
In this new installment, the story unfolds centuries ahead in a future where apes reign supreme in peace while humans dwell in the shadows, struggling to survive.
The official synopsis teases, “Amidst the rise of a new oppressive ape ruler, a young ape embarks on a perilous journey that challenges his beliefs and prompts him to make decisions that will shape the destiny of both apes and humans.”
The character of Proximus Caesar, the dominating ape leader, is voiced by Kevin Durand, alongside Owen Teague as the courageous chimp Noa and Freya Allan as the wild, young woman Nova.
The film also features performances by Peter Macon and William H. Macy.
The trailer highlights Noa (played by Teague) defiantly defying Proximus (portrayed by Durand) and forming a bond with Nova (depicted by Allan).
Scripted by Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Patrick Aison, and helmed by director Wes Ball, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is set to hit theaters on May 10th.
Freya Allan, recognized for her role as Ciri in the Netflix series The Witcher, is part of the talented cast.
