Great news! Google unveiled its latest and most advanced AI model called Gemini AI. It’s equipped to process audio, video, images, and text, and has surpassed OpenAI’s GPT 3.5 on numerous benchmarks.
In other exciting news, Google is upgrading its generative AI chatbot, Bard, to be powered by Gemini AI. This game-changing move will elevate Bard’s abilities, allowing it to rival ChatGPT with enhanced reasoning, understanding, and planning capabilities. Gemini Surpasses Rivals in Benchmark Tests
Capable of handling different types of data and delivering output in both text and images, Gemini AI boasts a 32k context window, putting it ahead of the competition.
Google is planning to release the AI model in three sizes, catering to various needs – Nano, Pro, and Ultra.
- Gemini Nano, the smallest model, is designed to run on mobile devices and split into two parts, each with a different set of parameters.
- Gemini Ultra, on the other hand, is a data center-level AI model that can handle complex tasks involving reasoning and processing multiple data types.
- The medium-sized model, Gemini Pro, aims to provide versatility, efficiently handling a broader range of tasks.
Gemini AI was recently put to multiple benchmark tests to evaluate its standing against rival AI models OpenAI, Anthropic, X, and Meta.
According to test results, while Gemini Pro couldn’t surpass GPT-4, it outperformed GPT-3.5 and other leading models.
Upon evaluating Gemini’s capabilities, the testers concluded that “the performance of Gemini Pro outperforms inference-optimized models such as GPT-3.5 and performs comparably with several of the most capable models available, and Gemini Ultra outperforms all current models”.
In 8 out of 10 tasks, Gemini Ultra emerged as the top performer, surpassing GPT-4 and several text-based tasks such as machine translation, Python coding, and text comprehension.
However, it’s important to note that the Gemini team acknowledged that, like other LLMs, the new AI model still faces limitations such as hallucinations and difficulties in reasoning and logical deductions.
Bard to Receive Powerful Upgrade with Gemini
Google plans to enhance Bard by integrating a specially modified version of Gemini Pro. The upgrade will launch in English across multiple countries, with support for more languages and regions coming soon.
Sissie Hsiao, Vice-President and General Manager of Assistant and Bard at Google, said that while Gemini Pro will initially power only text-based prompts in Bard, it will soon support multimodal input.
