Last Updated: March 4, 2024
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 large egg, at room temperature, lightly whisked
- 2/3 cup buttermilk
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- CINNAMON SUGAR COATING:
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Recipe Steps
- Start by preheating the oven to 350°. In a small bowl, mix the first 7 ingredients. Combine the egg, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla; then add to the dry mixture until just combined. Pipe or spoon the batter into two greased 6-cavity doughnut pans, filling them three-fourths full.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the doughnuts to cool for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks.
- For the coating, combine the sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Roll the warm doughnuts in the mixture to coat them evenly.
