When asked about the NFL’s focus on Taylor Swift during his brother Travis Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs games, Jason Kelce didn’t hold back in praising the superstar.
“The attention is there because the audience wants to see it,” he expressed to Caleb Noe, a reporter for Cincinnati’s ABC affiliate, WCPO 9. “I mean, if people didn’t want to see it, they wouldn’t be showing it. I know that.”
But Jason didn’t stop there, adding, “She’s a world star. She’s the quintessential artist right now in the world, singer-songwriter, immensely talented, unbelievable role model for young women across the globe. So I think that the NFL would probably be foolish not to, you know, show her and be a role model for all the young girls out there.”
Kelce’s thoughts came after a wave of criticism from football fans who felt the NFL was dedicating too much airtime to Swift during games this season.
Reflecting on this, during an October podcast with his brother Travis, Kelce questioned whether the NFL was going overboard with its focus on Swift.
Travis Kelce responded, “I think everybody is just, like, overwhelmed. I think it’s fun when they show who all is at the game. I think it brings a little bit more to the atmosphere, brings a little bit more to what you’re watching. But at the same time, they’re overdoing it a little bit, especially my situation.”
While the Eagles’ season is over, the Chiefs are gearing up to play in the 2024 Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers on Feb. 11.
Swift was present at 12 regular-season Chiefs games. There’s a chance she could make it to the final game if she can jet from Tokyo to Las Vegas after her last Era Tour performance in Japan.
