Get ready for a massive year in 2024 with Leon Edwards!
The welterweight champion made a surprise appearance at the Aston Villa vs. Burnley match in Birmingham, England, and revealed his exciting plans for the year ahead. Edwards announced that he’s aiming to fight at UFC 300 and then defend his title in Birmingham this summer, during a halftime interview with the fans.
“I will defend my belt in April at UFC 300 in Vegas again, then hopefully in the summertime get a show back in Birmingham at Villa Park,” Edwards said. “I’m in talks with the UFC, so hopefully we can get it done.”

The UFC has some big fights lined up for April 13, including Jiri Prochazka vs. Aleksandar Rakic and Aljamain Sterling vs. Calvin Kattar, but one thing missing is a title fight. It looks like Edwards could be stepping up for another defense, or perhaps he’s just ready and willing to defend his belt.
Edwards ended 2023 with a decisive win over Colby Covington at UFC 296 in December, marking his second successful title defense and 12th straight win (excluding one no-contest).
