Wow! Things got pretty heated during a recent event at the University of Minnesota (UMN). Dr. Melanie Yazzie, an assistant professor of American Indian studies, did not mince words as she spoke out against capitalism and called for the decolonization of the United States. Yazzie, a member of the Navajo Nation, made these bold statements during a panel discussion that included representatives from groups like American Muslims for Palestine and the Freedom Road Socialist Organization. She even co-founded the anti-colonial and anti-capitalist group, The Red Nation. This controversial event, which was held at the New City Center for Healing Justice in Minneapolis, certainly sparked some passionate discussion.
