As Yuki Tsunoda embarked on his third season at AlphaTauri, he knew that he needed to step up in 2023 to continue his Formula 1 career. Despite the initial struggles with the AT03, Tsunoda managed to perform well. He opened his points account by finishing 10th in Melbourne, and repeated the feat in Baku. He then solidified his position as the leader of AlphaTauri, contributing to Nyck de Vries’ departure. Even after a string of races without scoring, Tsunoda showed steady progress and finished the season on a high note with a brilliant performance in Abu Dhabi.

While there were occasional mistakes, Tsunoda’s overall performance in the 2023 season was laudable. With his contract extended for the 2024 season, he faces a significant challenge against Daniel Ricciardo, as a seat in the top team may be at stake. It’s up to Tsunoda to continue improving and prove that he is worthy of a spot in a leading team.
