Sydney Sweeney Addresses Cheating Rumors on Saturday Night Live
Sydney Sweeney wants to clarify that she and her fiancé are in a good place, despite the drama stirred up by the writers at Saturday Night Live.
During the summer, Sweeney faced a storm of rumors suggesting that she was cheating with her 34-year-old co-star from Anyone But You, Glen Powell. The chemistry between the two during promotions for the film led fans to speculate about an off-screen affair, especially when Powell’s girlfriend at the time, Gigi Paris, unfollowed Sweeney on Instagram and hinted at a breakup with the Top Gun star.
Even months later, Sweeney remains happily engaged to her partner, Jonathan Davino, who happened to produce Anyone But You with her. Keen to set the record straight once and for all, she took the opportunity to address the rumors during her hosting debut on Saturday Night Live on March 2.
In her opening monologue, Sweeney dismissed the rumors of an affair with Powell as the “wildest gossip” she’s ever heard about herself. She emphasized that her fiancé was present throughout the movie’s production and remains the love of her life. Despite a mix-up during the show where Powell was mistakenly shown in the audience instead of Davino, Sweeney reassured everyone that her fiancé was backstage in her dressing room.
The show didn’t stop there. In a subsequent sketch, one of Sweeney’s characters admits to cheating on her boyfriend in a crowded restaurant, leading to a breakup. Powell then makes an appearance at the table to whisk her away.
Through her appearance on Saturday Night Live, Sydney Sweeney took the opportunity to address the cheating rumors and reaffirm her commitment to her fiancé, Jonathan Davino, all while showcasing her humor and acting skills.
