Breaking News: They finally caught her! Iris Iliana Rodriguez, the Texas woman accused of sexually abusing a child, has been taken into police custody.
After being on the run for years, Rodriguez was arrested by members of INTERPOL Mexico on Dec. 11, in Jalisco, Mexico. The Texas Department of Public Security announced her arrest on Friday.
Rodriguez was wanted by Webb County since 2015 for three counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact, three counts of harassment, and one count of unlawful restraint. It is alleged that she engaged in inappropriate relations with an 11-year-old girl while working as a counselor in Laredo.
Authorities revealed that Rodriguez even found employment at another facility, where she continued to have contact with the victim under false pretenses. There have been additional warrants issued for her arrest.
Her capture was made possible by a tip received through Texas Crime Stoppers, and authorities promised a cash reward for that information. The U.S. Marshals Service, Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations, and Marshals Country Attaché in Mexico all played a role in the arrest.
Notably, the Jalisco Prosecutor’s Office said that Rodriguez is also wanted for allegedly holding a 12-year-old captive in Webb County between 2014 and 2015.
