It’s been an amazing year of triathlon racing! To celebrate the season, we’ve carefully selected the winners for our 2023 TRI247 Triathlon Awards. Last but not least is the ‘Race of the Year’ Award, chosen by our expert panel from a long list of contenders.
Our host, Jenny Lucas-Hill, sets the stage for the award and explains the criteria used – attracting exceptional fields, being super-exciting to watch, and taking the sport to a new level.
But the big question is, who’s taking home the prize: PTO European Open in Ibiza, Challenge Roth, or the women’s IRONMAN World Championship in Kona?
The Nominees
First up is the PTO, delivering on their promise to bring us the best racing in 2023. The event drew the best middle-distance field of all time and saw upsets and triumphs on both the men’s and women’s sides.
Next, the ‘biggest triathlon party in the world,’ Challenge Roth, lived up to its reputation with a stellar 2023 edition. Records were broken and legends were made on the course.
But the clock didn’t stop there – our experts favored a landmark race at the IMWC in Kona.
Our Winner – the IMWC in Kona
Amidst much anticipation, the Kona / Nice split delivered an unforgettable race for the women in Hawaii. The quality of the field and the performances made for a captivating race.
The story continued with a record-shattering win for Lucy Charles-Barclay, capping off an extraordinary event.
