An unspeakable tragedy occurred on Sunday morning as a mother and her three daughters were killed in a domestic-related shooting in Tinley Park. The incident took place at a residence on 7400 block of 173rd Place at around 11:20 a.m., prompting a frantic 911 call by a man at the scene. Tragically, the victims were pronounced dead at 11:36 a.m. The women have been identified as Majeda Kassem, 53, Halema Kassem, 25, Zahia Kassem, 25, and Hanan Kassem, 24.
Although the scene is now secure and a male suspect is in custody, the community is reeling from the shock and grief. Village Manager Pat Carr stated that this is the deadliest shooting since 2008, and the unsolved case has brought a flood of emotions back to the surface for many residents.
