What a game it was! The Jacksonville Jaguars put up a tough fight against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football. The main talking point of the night, however, was the unfortunate injury sustained by Trevor Lawrence.
During the fourth quarter, Lawrence suffered an ankle injury after a collision with left tackle Walker Little. This left him unable to leave the field without assistance, and he was unable to return to the game. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero later reported that Lawrence has an ankle sprain and is set to undergo an MRI on Tuesday.
Before his injury, Lawrence put on a stellar performance, throwing for 258 yards and two touchdowns, plus a rushing touchdown. After his exit, backup C.J. Beathard stepped in and played admirably, completing nine out of ten passes for 63 yards.
Although the Jaguars lost the game in overtime, the biggest concern for fans was the health of their star quarterback. It’s been a rough year for injuries in the NFL, and fans across the league rallied in support of Lawrence.
The loss takes Jacksonville to 8-4 for the season, but the team remains in first place in the AFC South. The Jaguars’ long-term success heavily depends on Lawrence’s return to the field.
