The Dubliner, with a 6-0 UFC record and an overall undefeated 14-0 career, faces his toughest challenge yet as he takes on former Abolish Cliff FC training partner Vicente Luque at the upcoming UFC 296 in Las Vegas.
Amidst swirling rumors about his personal life, Garry is ready to silence all criticism in the cage this weekend. In an interview with BJPenn.com, the undefeated Irishman affirmed that he is on the path to claim a UFC world title.
“My goal is to be one of the very best the world has ever seen, and that doesn’t matter who is standing across the octagon from me,” said Garry. “Unfortunately, it’s Vicente next and it doesn’t faze me.”
Even after having spent countless hours training alongside Luque, Garry remains relentless in his pursuit of greatness.
“I’m going to do what I do best and leave everyone talking about me after the fight,” he declared. “I want to deliver the best performance and make sure everyone remembers my name. If anyone can do that, it’s me.”
Furthermore, Garry is certain that his time at Abolish Cliff may have influenced Luque and his team to rethink their strategy.
“If anyone from that gym tells Vicente to stand and exchange strikes with me, they’re lying through their teeth,” Garry said confidently. “The best and smartest way for Vicente to beat me is to take me down, and that will always be the strategy when facing me. I’m incredibly skilled in striking so if I remain on my feet, I will find a way to win.”
In addition to his title ambitions, Garry also revealed his plans to bring the UFC back to Dublin for the first time since 2015.
