Fortnite has finally remembered about Xander, and it’s huge news for gamers everywhere. The highly anticipated skin has been in the game’s files for years. Now, in Chapter 3 Season 3, it’s being released as a free reward by Epic Games alongside the launch of the new season.
The Refer-a-Friend program in Fortnite is a great way to invite new players into the game. If you’ve been thinking about getting your friends into the battle royale action, now’s definitely the perfect time to do it.

Here’s how you can unlock the Xander skin by referring a friend:
- Visit Epic Games’ Refer-a-Friend page (the page isn’t available yet, we’ll update the article as soon as it goes live)
- Log in with your Epic Games account.
- Once signed in, you can refer up to 5 friends, whether they’re existing players or new to the game. However, they must have played the game for less than 2 hours in the last 30 days.
After registering the ‘referees’, all you need to do is to play games with them and earn free cosmetic rewards. This time around, the free rewards will include the Xander outfit, as well as various cosmetics related to the skin, such as a banner and spray.

Xander skin in Fortnite
For now, the specific challenges to unlock the skin haven’t been revealed by leakers. After the Rainbow Racer challenge turned out to be difficult for many players, the stakes are higher this time around.
UPDATE: The Refer-a-Friend challenges have been leaked:
- Play 1 Game with your Referred Buddy (BR & Zero Kind Supported) –
- Place Top 10 3 times with your Referred Buddy (BR & Zero Kind Supported)
- Eliminate 10 Opponents with your Referred Buddy (BR & Zero Kind Supported)
- Have both accounts reach at least 60 account levels since starting the program.

It’s clear that unlocking free rewards in Fortnite has been quite challenging lately. While some challenges, like playing 100 Fall Guys rounds, were manageable, others have proven to be more difficult for the free-to-play community, such as The Nindo challenges for a free wrap and glider.
